Button Bear

Happy end of June! Can you believe it? The year is half over already. Where did the time go? Today I have a card for Bugaboo. It's Oldie but a Goodie Thursday at Catch the Bug Challenge Blog.

I used Button Bear 2 and colored her with Copic markers. The background designer paper is from my scrap box. I used MFT Many Thanks dies and popped it up from the card for texture. I added a darker layer to make the pink pop. I hope you will check out the other oldie but goodie designs at Catch the Bug.
Have a wonderful Thursday!

Bugaboo Christmas Ornament

Today I have a tutorial to share over at the Catch the Bug blog for Bugaboo Stamps as their guest designer.

Recycle a Ribbon Spool into a Christmas Ornament

I am using an empty ribbon spool to make an adorable Christmas ornament. It can be used as a cute little gift of an ornament or use it for a package decoration that can be reused on the recipient's tree. I hope you’ll give this a try.

Here’s the steps for making the ornament:
Take the empty ribbon spool and pull off one side of the spool leaving the middle of the spool with an open area. If the side doesn’t come off cleanly you may need to sand pieces of paper of to make a smooth surface.

Choose your image and color and die cut the image. I used Bugaboo AKV Elf - Ornament. My die cut is Spellbinders Standard Circle dies but any circular die cut will do.

If the circle is smaller than the open area, you can do what I did and cut the outside of the die to make a background for your image. You can see the red card stock behind my image on my finished ornament.

Tape a piece of ribbon to the back of the ribbon spool to create a hanger for the ornament.

Use designer paper to cover the back of the spool. Trace around the spool and cut it out.

I colored some of the outside parts of the spool with Copic markers. And used ribbon to cover the rim around the circular area.

After you glue the image into the spool you can decorate the outside of the ornament any way you’d like. Add a sentiment, a bow or small branches and pearls as I did here.
I embellished a lot of the image with Stickles. The branches are Spellbinder's Foliage, to which I added some red pearls.
As I said before, these make lovely additions to a package or just to give as a little something to hang on the tree. And why not use all those empty ribbon spools that we have?

Thanks for checking out my tutorial. If you have any question leave a comment and I'll get back to you. Please share with me anything that you make with a recycled ribbon spool. I have a lot of them and I'm always looking for things to do with them. I'd love to see your creations.

Your a Treat

So I am playing catch up this week and a bunch of stuff to show you and more things to do for design teams then I have time to do. I'm going to have to decide what I can feasibly get done and move some things to later. I think by next week I'll be better time wise but right now I am scrambling. So I'm going to make this quick. But stay tuned for some awesome information early next week.

This is the free set at From the Heart Digital Stamps if you played along last month or you can purchase it to get next months set free. The stamp set is called Ice Cream Lineup. I colored my ice cream with Copics to represent my favorite flavors of ice cream. Do you see a pattern? I do believe there is chocolate on every bowl. The top bowl is Mint Chocolate Chip, the middle bowl is a hot fudge sundae and the bottom bowl is Neapolitan. Yum! Nothing better than ice cream on a hot summer day and it's been pretty steamy around here lately. The background was done with Simon Says Ice Cream Dream stamp set. I heat embossed some of the images with white embossing powder and then used distress inks to make the rainbow colors: Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberries, Cracked Pistachio, Salty Ocean and Shaded Lilac. The sentiment is from the Ice Cream Lineup set and I die cut that and it's background with MFT Inside and Out Stitched Rounded Squares. I used the inlaid die technique for the sentiment. I used this week's I {heart} sketches #158 for inspirations.

Thanks for stopping by. I am off to get something else done yet tonight before it gets too late.

Hugs,

Oh Baby!

I do believe a baby shower is in our future as my daughter and SIL prepare for twins. So as my last design team card for Imagine That! Digis by Kris, I made a card for Tricia's shower.

So this is a peek-a-boo card that's revealed as you turn the pages. I used several of Kris' stamp sets in this card. I used Pregnant Peggy and Baby Blocks.

And finally!

The sentiment on the inside says "congratulations mommy-to-be." And that gorgeous plaid paper is from the Pregnant Peggy stamp set. I just love plaid and the colors in this paper are so soft. Just beautiful. Here's a preview of the two sets.

There is a third set called Little Blessings and all three can be purchased as a bundle. They are just adorable!
I've had a blast as a guest designer for Imagine That! Digis by Kris and I was sad to see my time was up. But recently Kris emailed me and asked if I wanted to stay and join the design team. So for at least the next three months I will be moving to the main blog design team. After the twins are born I'll have to see how much time I have. So stay tuned for more awesome inspiration from Imagine That! Digis by Kris. Be sure to check out all the other guest designers' projects over at the Creative Playground. A wonderful group of talented ladies and I will miss them.

Granny's Rocker

As some of you may know, my daughter is expecting twins and from testing done last week we know that they do not have the same medical problems as our first grandson that we lost last fall. So we are getting excited to be grandparents and be able to hold these new little blessings. So as I made this card today I was thinking about rocking these two new little babies and this card made me smile.

The image is from Beccy's Place called Gran's Chair. I used the pre-colored version. The plaid paper is from Imagine That! Digis by Kris from the set called Pregnant Peggy. I cut the image with Spellbinder's Standard Circles. The blue background piece is die cut with Gina Marie Designs Cross Stitched Rectangles. I inked the edges of the circle with Mowed Lawn distress ink. The sentiment is doe cut from MFT Pierced Fishtail Flags. The sentiment is from Decosse's Dynamite Doodles. I used The Paper Players sketch for inspiration.

I hope my card makes you smile today too. Make it an awesome week. I think I need this week to recover from Girl Scout day camp last week. LOL! Back to work tomorrow. Ugh!

I {heart} sketches with a twist #157

Just a quick post to show you one of the crafts we did at day camp. I had several different designs that the girls could use for this project. But it was really easy and fun. We made optical illusion tops.

For this top I used the Sun, Waves and Flip Flops image at From the Heart Stamps. I resized the image to fit on a CD. I colored the image with Copic markers and added several colors of Stickles to make it sparkle then glued the image to the CD. Finally I glue a marble into the center and once the glue is dry you can spin it and it looks like this.

See the sparkle? This top will spin for a very long time and the illusion changes as the speed lessens. It's very cool! We had a great time making these. The challenge at I {heart} sketches with a twist is usually a sketch but I used the twist this time: make it sparkle. This would be a great thing to do with your kids this summer. You can pick up a pack of marbles at the dollar store. And if you need CDs I have hundreds. I'm always looking for CD projects to do with the Girl Scouts. LOL!

Purrfect Day

I'm  a bit behind today and trying to play catch up after being at day camp all week. An exhausting experience. I'm glad that the week has passed and I can get back to normal, whatever that might be. Our theme for next year is time travel so I'll start watching out for fun things to do on that theme now.
New challenge at The Outlawz CAS challenge. I am the hostess for National Cat Month. Our theme is none other than cats!

The cat image is from Oak Pond Creations called Love Kitty and the sentiment is from Create with TLC. Colored with Copics and then I embellished with some pink and red sequins. Easy peasy.

Hope you'll join us at Outlawz CAS challenge this week. Show us your cat! I am hoping to get back to crafting this week. so maybe you'll see more of me. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Bugaboo Anything but a Card

Happy Monday! This is a scheduled post as I am off to camp for our first day. Over 200 girls expected so I'm sure we'll be quite busy. the weather is a bit iffy for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday but we are keeping our fingers crossed and sending prayers heavenward.
Today I have a project for "Anything but a Card" Monday at the Catch the Bug Blog.

I made a bag and decorated the bag with Flower Pocket 5. This was last week's Friday freebie so hop on over and grab this cute digi for free. I die cut the image with Gina Marie Wine Label dies. The image is colored with Copics. The sentiment is from Day Dream Designs and die cut with Spellbinder's Fancy Tags. The sentiment tag is distressed with Mowed Lawn ink.
Thanks for dropping by today. I hope you will have a wonderful week. Mine will be hot and sweaty but a lot of fun, I'm sure.

Card Set

My design project for today is for Imagine That! digis by Kris. I made a set of cards to give as a gift.

I used the Nautical Digi Papers and My Sailmate stamp set. I made a set of 4 cards and then also a purse to store the cards and for gift giving.

This was such fun to make. Here is where I found the pattern for the purse. I used the measurements for the A2 cards. Aren't the sailing images adorable! And I love the papers. Please check out what the other guest designers have done at the Imagine That! Creative Playground.

Be a Flamingo

I have another quick post that I wanted to share today before I am off to work on day camp. I had this cute image of a hot chick flamingo colored up from From the Heart Stamps. So I made him/her into a quick card using the sketch at I {heart} sketches with a twist. The twist this week was to make a circular card so I didn't do the twist.

The background card stock and designer paper are from my scrap box. The pink I believe is the Paper Studio and the aqua bokeh paper is from Decosse's Dynamite Doodles. The sentiment is from Beccy's Place set called Feathered Friends. I ripped the sentiment and used Spun Sugar Distress ink to coat the paper and then edged it with Picked Raspberries. The image of the flamingo was die cut with MFT Cross Stitched Ovals and then popped off the card with Scotch mounting tape. I really like the color combination on this card!

Now I have to get back to day camp prep. If I am missing this week and next week a lot it will be due to day camp. I will have a few scheduled posts in there for design team projects. I hope you'll stay tuned for those. Have an awesome week.

Diamonds and Pearls

Welcome to another CAS challenge at the Outlawz. This week's challenge is such fun and brings beautiful results. We are asking you to use "diamonds" and pearls on your CAS project. I went with a Christmas card this week.

My Christmas tree is a die cut from Memory Box called Winterland Tree. I stamped a sentiment from a Gina K set called Blessed is the Season. And to finish off I added my "diamonds" and pearls and one sequin star to the top of my tree. Very CAS this week.

I hope you'll join us this week for our "diamonds" and pearls challenge at the Out;awz CAs group. Check out all the beautiful inspiration from our design team. Can't Remember

Today begins a new challenge over at Catch the Bug. Our theme this week is masculine. On Thursday my dear hubby celebrated his birthday. So of course I had to make him a card. I used one of his favorite sayings on the card.

Although I didn't give him this card belated, (I did remember when his birthday was!) this would make a great belated birth. day card. The image is from Bugaboo Stamps called Gus CRS. I used last week's Tuesday Morning Sketch as inspiration. Here are the details for the card:
white card stock base
red layering
diamond die cut: Gina Marie Designs
designer paper: Doodle Pantry
Birthday Wishes sentiment: retired Gina K stamp set
die cut: Spellbinder's circle inked with Fired Brick distress ink

Summer Time and the Living is Easy

Happy almost Sunday! I was able to get a few things done for Girl Scout Day Camp today. Training for the volunteers is Sunday so I have to be ready for that. I have more to print out as soon as I get the number of units that we have this year. So I have more work to do in the morning. But before I go back to work on camp I wanted to let you know of the new challenge up for The Outlawz CAS challenge. Memorial Day is the unofficial beginning of the summer season in many areas, so our challenge this week is to make a summer CAS card.

All the images are from the Simon Says Ice Cream Dream stamp set. I used a red, white and blue color combination with a red card base. I used these distress inks: Barn Door, Salty Ocean and Broken China for the sentiment. The image is colored with Copics. I hope you will join us this week for a summer card bonanza at The Outlawz CAS.

And I have a lot to do to get there. This year's theme is carnival. So before I get embroiled in day camp let me show you my project for the new Anything Goes challenge at Catch the Bug. I love challenges when you can make anything at all!

Here's a happy little birthday card using Kawaii Kid Balloons. I colored the image with Copic markers and die cut the image with Gina Marie Designs Cross Stitched Ovals. The sentiment is from the sherlock's home but the blog isn't open anymore. The designer paper is from my scrap box. I added three strips of purple ribbon and three buttons.

12 Months of Christmas Link Up

Happy June! I can hardly believe how fast the time goes. And the beginning of the month brings a new challenge over at the 12 Months of Christmas Link Up. This month's theme is silver and gold!

"Silver and Gold means so much more when I see
Silver and Gold decorations on every Christmas tree."

These lyrics are from a song sung by Burl Ives that appears in one of my favourite Christmas shows, "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer".  Sam the snowman (Ives) sings the song after we meet Yukon Cornelius, an Arctic prospector searching for valuable minerals who meets Rudolph and Hermey while they are trying to avoid the Abominable Snowmonster.   Well, Yukon Cornelius isn't the only one who likes silver and gold.  There is just something about those two minerals together that can enrich any environment.  Silver and gold are especially beautiful during the Christmas season.

In order to have a chance to win the prize from our wonderful guest sponsor this month, make sure that you use a combination of BOTH silver AND gold somewhere on your card.  Whether you choose to use these colours in your image or your paper or choose to use silver or gold embellishments, it is completely up to you.  If you do follow the optional theme, be sure to add FT after your name so that we include you in the draw for the prize.

Remember, you don't need to follow the theme to link up your cards and earn a free paper each month, and have your name thrown into the year end draw for some extra digital goodies.  You only need to follow the theme if you want a chance to win this month's sponsored prize of a $15.00 gift card from Lunagirl.

And the designer paper that we used this month was from Decosse's Dynamite Doodles.

Here's my card for the silver and gold challenge:

I used the Christmas Minis 2 set and blew up one of the angel images from the set.

I used the stripe background paper from the designer paper set and die cut the Spellbinder's Picot Edge Circles out of silver paper. I added gold pearls around the die cut. I added a QuikCutz tag die with a sentiment from a retired Flourishes stamp set.
I hope you will join us this month at the 12 Months of Christmas Link Up and show us your silver and gold. But remember any Christmas card is eligible to be entered for the paper prize. Come join us!
